Bug or expected behavior when using a drill hierarhcy

I have a date hierarhcy that goes:

year

quarter

month

week (based on a monday start date, so 9/19, 9/26, etc.

When i drill from month into week on a bar graph, data for the 9/26 week gets split into two columns: September/October because the hierarhcy wants to include the next level up as part of the filter. Is there a way to turn this behavior off and simply drill down a level?

I get th ebehavior using the level drill down as well as drilling into a single bar's value using the top right corner drill functionality.

Hi @TheGreatUnwashd,

Based on my test, I'm not able to reproduce the issue in my environment ( Power BI Desktop version: 2.38.4491.642). I have created a Date Hierarchy contains Year, Quarter, Month, WeekNum, date. When I turn on the drill down by clicking right top button, then click on the column from 2016->Qtr 3->September->40, it will display date from 2016.9.26-2016.9.30.

In your scenario, please take a look at attached .pbix file and update the desktop to the same version like ours. If issue persist, please share detail information for us to reproduce the issue.

I was able to replicate the behavior using the double arrow drill down, but not the single arrow drill down.
