Budget vs Actual Date Relationship Issue

Hello,

I am new to PBI and I'm trying to piece together a budget vs actual dashboard.  The issue I'm having is when I try to do a combined table with budget and actual, the budget numbers won't show totals by month but they show total combined sales in every month.  For example if January budget is $600 and total for the year is $5,000, January will show $5,000, February will show $5,000, and so on.

I've attached a file with sample data.

You can have a month start date in Target table and join both sales and target to date table.

Any other common dimension you can join

To get the best of the time intelligence function. Make sure you have a date calendar and it has been marked as the date in model view. Also, join it with the date column of your fact/s. Refer :

I figured out how to mark the calendar table as the date table....

Question: When you say add month start date to budget table, is the month start date different than the budget month?
