Bookmark for hiding several images

Hi,

I have a problem: I want ONLY (!) to hide (for example) 2 images with 1 bookmark // other visuals shall not be influencd by this bookmark.

Situation
- One Reportpage with 3 images / 2 images shall be hidden

My attempt:
1. step: I select my 2 images which shall be hidden
2. step: Within SELECTION I hid these 2 images

3.Step: I created bookmark with option "SELECTED VISUALS"

Consequence: Bookmark-use  was not successful

IS THERE A TRICK ?????? (Hiding visuals with OPTION "ALL VISUALS" was successful ?!?, but bookmark shall only hide 2 images)

Please help step by step 🙂

Kind regards

Rainer

It seems that once images are hidden, they are not "selected" anymore.
Check this video for more info on selected visuals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cserABSnXzk

Hi,

thanks for your answers ! 🙂

My problem is:
I need hiding/unhiding SELECTED VISUALS, because bookmark shall only influence special visuals (not influence ALL Visuals).

Is there a solution ?

Hi,

If you would like to have dynamic bookmark, do you need bookmark? 🙂
You can select visuals and click on Hide option - automatically selected visuals will be hidden. After that if you click on Show, selected visuals will be displayed.

It is also good practice to have one bookmark which will reset the view to default (to display all visuals).
On the other hand, if you have fixed rules (image 1 and image 2 show, image 3 hide) then you should create bookmarks.
If i still didn't understand, please share some screenshots 🙂

Hi,

my situation:

rainerpowerbi_0-1596700295614.png

Bookmark 1: shall hide Images 1+2, but SLICER (Value 30) shall keep its value and Image 3 shall de displayed

Bookmark 2: shall hide Images 2+3, but SLICER (Value 30) shall keep its value and Image 1 shall de displayed

Hi @rainerpowerbi ,

I created three sample figures:

Bookmark1:

Bookmark2:

Bookmark3:

The action buttons are Blank buttons from tab Insert > Buttons > Blank.

Hi @FrankAT,
thanks for your answer 🙂

In your screenshots I see my problem which is not solved:

Example:
Step 1: Enduser selects in Slicer VALUE 10
Step 2: Afterthat Enduser clicks on Bookmark 1 (hide special images) but the ENDUSER-selection of Slicer-Value (10) shall further exist and shall not be overwritten by the value of the slicer existed at time creating bookmark

Excurs: the option (BOOKMARKS->ALL VISUALS) runs correct in my testings

Hi @nandic ,

the option (BOOKMARKS->SELECTED VISUALS) do not function.

Can I please send you simple file ?
(I think there is a trick you have to know)

Kind regards
Rainer

Hi @rainerpowerbi ,

you can download a sample pbix file from: (Link deleted) which should work as expected.

@rainerpowerbi,

Refer below images:

Normal Layout: All Visible

bm1.PNG

Bookmark 1: Image 1 and 2 hidden; Slicer and Image 3 visiblebm2.PNG

Bookmark 2: Image 2 and 3 hidden; Slicer and Image 1 visible

bm3.PNG

For SLICER (Value 30) to keep its value, Make sure for both bookmarks, data is unchecked:

Give a thumbs up if this post helped you in any way and mark this post as solution if it solved your query !!!

@rainerpowerbi ,
If you want to keep selected filter, right click on bookmark and uncheck data. This way, filters, drill and sort will not be influenced by bookmark.
Eveything else regarding bookmarks is above already mentioned.

Hi @nandic ,

thank you for your answers 🙂

I tried it...not successful.

Is it possible send you this simple model that you could implement it ?

After that I (or if you want you) could write step by step here for other users because the solution seems very tricky.
(the problem is NOT SAVE properties FOR ALL VISUALS, I want only save HIDDE/UNHIDE for SPECIAL Visuals keeping properties by the rest of visuals)

Kind regards

Rainer

@rainerpowerbi , @Anand24  sent all needed steps, this is how it should work.
Set fixed show/hide for images and slicer and make sure data is unchecked.

If this still doesn't work then you can send the file.

@rainerpowerbi ,
When hiding images with bookmars there are 2 main "tools" 🙂
1) Bookmarks
2) Selection

Create as many bookmarks as you want (bookmarks > add). Then rename them to for easier navigation.
Next step is to go per each bookmarks and in selection tab choose which visualization to show/hide when this bookmark is selected. Right click on selected bookmark and choose update.
On images below you can see that when selected "Matrix" bookmark, only selection of matrix is visible, text box and table are hidden.
If at any time you need to change objects that are shown/hidden, select bookmark, change selections, right click on bookmark and choose update.
