Bookmark Problem

I've seen this happen a few times and can't figure out what is going on.  I built a report that has multiple tabs that roll up to a score card.  On the scorecard page, at some point a bookmark was set.  When the bookmark is activated, e.g., when you navigate from another tab back to the scorecard using a provided button or if you click on the bookmark from the bookmark pane, all of the numbers in the scorecard change.  I see no filters applied at the page level that would impact all of the visuals and even if I delete the bookmark involved, the filtration still stays.  I essentially can't remove it.

Fortunately I had a previously saved iteration so I closed without saving, then came back in and recreated the bookmark.  I know that a bookmark can be used to clear all filters, but if you didn't do that, then what?

Is there anyway around this?

Hi @sfalk781 ,

When you create a bookmark, the following elements are saved with the bookmark:

The current page

Filters

Slicers, including slicer type (for example, dropdown or list) and slicer state

Visual selection state (such as cross-highlight filters)

Sort order

Drill location

Visibility of an object (by using the Selection pane)

The focus or Spotlight modes of any visible object

So Filter already exists when you create the bookmark.

If you want to delete the filter, please find the filter in filter pane, and clear the filter.

I wonder if bookmark has any impact on performance, mostly when you hide visuals and change the visible option to true/false.

Does it has any impact on performance ? Even with hidden visuals...is it still being loaded ?

Or the hidden visuals don't impact anything while it's hidden.... ?

Thanks,

So are we saying that since the bookmark is a snapshot in time, there has to be a filter involved?  There aren't any filters visible on anything.  Is there no way to delete a bookmark out and clear any filters that were connected to it?

@sfalk781 think of bookmark as a snapshot, if you have filtered data and create a bookmark, filters will be part of it, you have to create bookmark before any filter on the page and I think that is what you are looking for.

@parry2k that makes sense but if you delete the bookmark, it doesn't revert the changes that were applied.  How do you even know what filters are influencing it?  If I hover over the visuals, it doesn't list any filters that are actually changing the data?  I can't find anyway to revert the changes.
