Writing Typescript code to develop a custom Timeline Visual. 

Looking for any ideas on how to create different shapes(diamond, circle and square) for representing data in a custom visual.

You may do research into d3.js. It helps you bring data to life using HTML, SVG, and CSS. You could also use external libraries in Power BI custom visuals. See more at https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-visuals-sampleUsingExternalLibraries.
