Best Practices for Historic Data

Hello Everyone!

What are the best practices to adopt when we have a large amount of data that we need to load onto our dashboard for historic analysis and trend analysis? I need to ensure that my dashboard dont slow down or keeps on reading the data. As of now, i am planning to use composite model in which i will be using "Enable Historic Analysis" for the historical analysis. That would be enough? Should i keep a separate table for historic analysis?

Need your suggestions.

Hi @Anonymous ,

"Enable Historic Analysis" will use streaming dataset, with a streaming dataset, data is also pushed into the Power BI service, with an important difference: Power BI only stores the data into a temporary cache, which quickly expires.

I would suggest you create another dataset for the normal data, then create another report on this dataset, after that we can pin different reports on the same dashboard.

Best Regards,

Teige
