Best Practices for HR Retention report

I have a list from HR

name, Hire date, Term date (the term date is null if the employee is still active)

John, 1/1/2010,5/17/2020

Jane, 12/11/2011,

blake,3/7/2013,

They have tasked me to "automate" the process and report it using power bi  

they didn't tell me to much about how they are currently doing it but I know that they are taking a 12 month rolling average of how many employees we have and then either 12 months rolling average of
