Is there an external tool or a method I can use to batch update the field properties in desktop?
I have a report with 100+ measures that I would like to update the description field without typing in each one by hand.
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Hi @Anonymous ,
At present, the latest version of powerbi desktop cannot implement Batch update properties in the form of programming. Might as well you can post your idea here: Ideas - Microsoft Power BI Community

Thanks @amitchandak , I found this video that shows how to update the other properties in Tabular Editor, but just can't seem to find a way to do it programmatically https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuo3HOxY788
@Anonymous , There are REST Apis. But not sure if we can update the description using that
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/
@Anonymous , For Display Folder you can select multiple and do. For Desc etc, Here you have to enter separately. There are external tools like the tabular editor. But not sure you can do it there.
Thanks @amitchandak , @v-henryk-mstf
Yes it is possible to update the Description in Tabular Editor, but again it is single entry at a time on the GUI; it is marginally quicker to do it here than in Desktop but still can't find a solution to do it programatically.
If I don't find a solution I will submit it as an idea for consideration.
Thanks for all yuor help
Hi @Anonymous ,
Yes, I'm sorry for the functions that cannot be implemented temporarily. If you still need to use programming methods, please post your idea to here as soon as possible, hoping to help you solve the problem as much as possible.😊
