Based on primary column, join between tables at Query level

I want to perform join between two tables:

IDDescriptionActual IDCategory IDDescriptionCategoryActual
1AA10 1a 1AAa10
2BB20 2b 2BBb20
3CC30 3c 3CCc30
4DD40 4d 4DDd40
Table 1     Table 2   Result Table

IF Table1. ID= Table2.ID then populate the Category column from Table 2 in Table 1.

Any help will be appreciated

Are you trying to do this in DAX or M? In M you should be able to do a simple Merge query and then just get rid of the columns that you don't want (like the Table 1 Category column).

Doing this in Dax? If the tables are related in your model than you can use a calculted column with RELATED(table2[Category])

If they are not related you can use LOOKUPVALUE() function.

If your in M in power query do a merge. You will end up with the calumn called table2. Expand only the category and any other columns you want from that by using the icon in the column header.
