Bar and line charts

Good morning,

We are exploring all the posibilities of Power BI charts in order to implemement them in some of our monthly reports. We would like to have in a same graph years / quarters / months diplayed at the same time. For example, for historical years from 2012 - 2016, we would need to show the figures by year, for 2017 by quarter and for 2018 by month and quarter. We would update this chart monthly and repeat the same routine each year. We have tried to do it without success. We would appreciate your help to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi asuajela,

I'm afraid only one chart can't meet your requirement.

As a workaround, you can create three calculate column [years] [quaters] [months] based on your date column using DAX function year(), ROUNDUP(MONTH([Date])/3, 0) and month(). Then you can create three charts which represent these figures as your requirement.

Regards,

Jimmy Tao

Good morning Jimmy,

Thanks for your reply.

Our data is entered and updated by month. The year and quarter is a calculation based on months. Maybe, we would need a function to calculate them from months  and show the periods in the same chart according to our needs. Do you know some function to do it?. Currently, we use "Think-Excel" an add-ins of Power Point/Excel. It is flexible.

Thanks and regards,

Laura
