Backwards Compatibility - Error if 2 versions of Power bi is used

I created a power bi file with the April 2017 Version and sent it to someone who has not updated since february 2017. The file can be used and was saved in the power bi february 2017 version. However, I can't open it anymore in my April 2017 version. It shows an error, "this power bi file is not compatible with your version, please update to the current version of power bi."

Has anyone else has this problem? Its quite hard to update everyone's power bi to the latest version since it requires IT approval.

Hi @spoony,

Currently, each .pbix file is compatible with previous desktop version. You can vote on this same request: Have a backward compatibility when possible.

Except the way to keep desktop to be the latest version, you can also share the reports via Power BI service instead of Power BI desktop: How should I collaborate and share dashboards and reports?.

Best Regards,
