Background image in Desktop Layout

Has anyone run into an issue when uploading a PNG image as a background in PowerBI? Viewing the report in Desktop Layout on a computer works fine, but when viewing the same report on a mobile device (in Desktop/widescreen layout), the image is removed.

Desktop view (works as desired). The green & yellow borders are part of the PNG image file.

Same report on a mobile phone (iPhone X) using Desktop Layout.

@Anonymous,

You may take a look at Create reports optimized for the Power BI phone apps.

Thanks Sam - this helps, but ultimately my audience members are going to inevitably turn their phone side-ways and want to use the landscape version of the report. I'd like to have a quality mobile version (your solution) as well as a quality landscape version on mobile.

Hello - have you managed to solve this perhaps?

Our internal partners have reached out to Microsoft on this one, so we have a dedicated resource as of this morning. I hope to have an answer soon, and will share with the community.

So far the representative at Microsoft has been unable to come up with a solution. I've asked them to log this as a future enhancement. The inherent color/background options are fairly limited, so I would hope that they see the value in using PNG background files.

I just checked on an iPad (Power BI iPad app) and it keeps the integrity of the backround image (albeit some of the elements in the pages are silghtly misaligned when compared to how they are seen on Desktop or the Service). As you report, the image is lost or displays distorted (coulours) on an iPhone (I believe the backround images are JPEGs in my case).

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried opening our reports on an iPad and they rendered just fine. I let the Microsoft contact know and he stated that their Product team is aware of the issue for Smartphones now.
