BI Workspace activity tied to O365 Groups - does retention/expiration policy apply?

We have retention policies and expiration on our O365 groups, if there is no activity in Teams, Outlook, SP, etc there is documentation that the group will expire based on predefined dates.

What if there is only activity in the BI Workspace does that activity get tracked so the group doesn't get deleted? If it doesn't and it gets deleted can it be restored and if so what is the process.

Yes, there is only activity in the BI Workspace , then activity get tracked so the group doesn't get deleted.

A single retention policy can easily apply to an entire organization and locations across Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 groups. If you need to retain or delete content anywhere in Microsoft 365, we recommend that you use a retention policy and optionally supplement this with retention labels. Any group that is not renewed is deleted.  Any Office 365 group that is deleted can be restored within 30 days by the group owners or the administrator.
