AzureML: PowerBI Auth through "web API" key failing; trying to use GET

Hi all:

I created an Azure ML experiment and exposed it as a webservice. I confirmed this works via Postman.  I then went to Power BI to use this webservice as a Data Source, but I cannot authenticate.

Getting into the weeds, I believe Power BI isn't authenticating correctly because it's trying to authenticate using GET, but the Azure ML webservice only accepts POST.  Therefore, I cannot use the webservice.

I can confirm that:

  • the webservice is working correctly
  • Power BI can consume other webservices (via the Azure Data Market)
  • Fiddler logs show that Power BI is can authenticate BASIC
  • Fiddler logs show that Power BI is not correctly using the BEARER auth model for when I have the API key.

Is this a known issue, or am I perhaps trying something incorrectly?
