Azure backup in Power BI Desktop

Hi,

Can I connect to Azure backup data in Power BI Desktop? I know there is a Azure backup service available in the Power BI App and I would like to know if it is possible to connect to this data from Power BI Desktop.

Hi @rolf1994,

Power BI desktop doesn't provide a built-in data connector for Azure backup data. We cannot connect to Azure backup directly in desktop.

You could connect to Azure backup content pack in Power BI service first, that will create a Azure backup dataset which contains Azure backup data model, based on which we can create a custom report. Then, in Power BI desktop,  select Get Data, and navigate to Online Services. From there you should see an option for PowerBI Service. Click Connect, choose the Azure backup option. For more detailed steps, please refer to How-To Create Custom Azure Backup Reports Using the Data Model.

Best regards,

Yuliana Gu
