Azure Table Storage, DirectQuery or Import, that is the question?

I am a little bit confused about the DirectQuery and Import!

When we are getting data from Azure table Storage in our Power BI Desktop, in none of the steps it asks about the DirectQuery or Import?

Does it mean that we are always connected to Azure Table Storage through DirectQuery?

Can someone explain?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Actually it is not supported yet to connect to Azure Table Storage in power bi by direct query. There is an idea about that. So that's why no action is asked to chooes the connection type.

Hi All, adding to the above question.
Is there a way to schedule a hourly refresh while connecting to Azure Table Storage. I only see daily and weekly options.
Thanks in advance 🙂 .

Hey,

You can schedule a hourly refresh on Power BI Service. if you are you on Direct query you will see a dataset with your report on PBIS. Click on settings of the dataset. Authenticate the credentials and then turn on the refresh and select the "Daily" and set for every hour (See the snip below).

Note: The frequency of how much refresh you can keep on a dataset will differ based on your license.

Thanks, @v-frfei-msft . I thought because it is in the cloud, the DiretQuery is kind of the default version.
