Hi,
Im trying to import a .csv file from an Azure Blob Storage container. The files listed are a couple of test files, i since replaced with 1 new file.
I cannot find a way to see that 1 new file, even after i delete the stored azure credentials (under "Data source settings"), or closing the app.
After connecting to the conatiner, i see the list of old files.
When i choose "Load" instead of "Transform Data", and in the "fields" area select the Name, i do see the new file name.
So it is there, but i cant see them to choose "Transform Data", a button all tutorials ask me to use. (as you can guess, im new to Power bi:)
How can i see the current contents of an Azure Blob Storage container?
Thanks,
Sander
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have found a workaround.
Originlally i added the blob connection using the full url instead of just the blob account name.
Using the full url (https://azinventory.blob.core.windows.net/inventory-user/) shows a file selectpor without a refresh button, always showing an old file list that never was there.
When i make the connection and NOT use the full url but only use the accountname (azinventory) instead. i get a map selector, i can select the "inventory-user" map which does have a refresh button. when i click it, it refreshes the content and shows the current files in that blob.
Thanks! I had the same issue as you describe. When I did "Get data > Azure Blob Storage > full-container-url" I didn't see any of my new data in the preview window that opened up. With the window that opened up, I clicked "Transform Data" to bring me to the Power Query Editor and still didn't see any of my new data. It wasn't until I clicked "Refresh Preview" at the top that I saw my new data.
I hope Microsoft fixes this!

Hi @Sanderkl ,
You can refer the following links to connect to Azure blob Storage:
And the following one is the thread which has the similar problem as yours, hope that it's solution can also help you solve the problem.
Connect Power BI to an Azure Storage Container that is shared with me as an External User
From what I gathered, connecting to a blob datasource only works with access keys. However, I managed to connect to the shared container using Web.Contents and it worked just fine.
Best Regards
Hi Rena,
Thanks for your reply.
The problem isn't connecting the Azure Blob Storage container using a secret. The problem occures after connecting successfully, i see an old list of files as contents of the container, i deleted those files 4 days ago in the container.
My guess it is a bug in the desktop client, the caching of azure blob storage contents and not refreshing the content. uninstalling the client and re installing the client has no effect. I still see file contents for 4 days ago.
Is this a known issue?
Edit: Is there a location on local disk with cache files from the desktop client, that i can clear?
if so, what is the folder path?
Kind regards,
Sander
