Automatic import per year date

Hi!

I've a ETL that extracts summarized data from my OLTP system. For example, all relevante sales information of 2016 january are the "reporting" schema with name "bi_sales_2016_01" table.

So, I need that PowerBI import all data from "2015-01" til "2017-07" (on 2017/07/31), and then tomorrow, also import data for "2017-08" and so on.

In short: I need to write a script that will import data. Is that possible? Any example available?

And after, how can I tell PowerBI that some group of tables are just a temporal split of certain information?

The information you've provided is not very clear, but suggest that you're very new to PowerBI.

In most cases, you don't need a script, but use the UI to filter the data to import.

If the relative/dynamic date-filters don't suit your needs, you can edit the code of a suitable date filter like this:

= Table.SelectRows(<<YourTable>>, each [DateKey] >= #date(2015, 1, 1) and [DateKey] <= Date.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) )

You can format your the results of dates to text with: Date.ToText([Date], "YYYY"&"-"&"MM")
