My data has some Parent categories, each one of which has some Sub Category. I have made a drill down visual to make it more intuitive. Also, I have a table with values which fall in some of the Parent and Sub categories.
Now, I want to filter data in the table based on the category that is selected in the visual. I am able to do that for a particular level of categories. Although, when I drill down a particular category, the complete data becomes visible instead of the data in the Parent category.
I want the data obtained by the previous selection to remain even after drill down. I searched around a lot but nothing worked. The complete data gets displayed irrespective of the Parent category. Any insights on this will be appreciated.
Only thing I can think of is to separate out your one visual into two visuals. Thus, when they select a parent category, the subcategory visual gets filtered as well as the table. Then, when they drill into the subcategory the table could be filtered or if you not have the second visual connected to the table so that it would remain at the parent category filter. Not entirely sure what you are after and what you are experiencing doesn't sound like what should be happening but I'd have to recreate it. Some sample data and steps to recreate would be great.
