Hi,
Trying to understand if something is wrong, or if this is just a limitation of PBI: I have a filled map (choropleth) with counties for a US state. When I click on the name of a county in the accompanying table of data, auto zoom (which is set to on in the filled map) does just want I want and zooms to that county on the map. But when I click on a county shape directly on the map, it does highlight that county and filter the other visuals on the page, BUT it does not auto zoom to display just that county. Instead, it stays at the same zoom level so that I still see the whole state. Is that a bug? Is there another setting to change so it will auto zoom no matter how the county is chosen?
Hey @AllisonKennedy ,
Ah okay, thank you! Does it make a difference that I've noticed that clicking on a county from the table seems to redraw the entire filled map visual (wheel spins and it colors the zoomed-in county differently (I think since it's the only county, it changes color to be at the color I set for the 80-100% level whereas it might have been in the 0-20% level previously). Clicking on a county from the filled map does not do this - it just grays all the other counties out, no actual color adjustments made and it doesn't reload. Both ways of filtering correctly update all the other page visuals. Is there anything I do to adjust the filled map so it refreshes itself rather than just graying out the non-selected counties? (guessing no from your first answer, but just verifying!)
Also, actually as I am thinking about it: is there any way to keep it from re-coloring when I make a selection? since the selected county moves to the 100% level since it has no competition, it's a darker color and a bit hard to read any city names underneath it. (would love to be able to bring the city names on top of the color, or use an outline instead of color! PBI is cool but the small limitations are frustrating, haha.)
@Anonymous no way to force the map to refresh itself unfortunately.
You could change the conditional formatting on the color fill so that it doesn't reset based on filters, but otherwise as you stated the color will update to show relative to the other countries that are selected. This would be more helpful if you had a filter for continent for example. The selecting of country in the table is not just zooming the map, it is also filtering it (as you have noticed by it refreshing and spinning wheel).
You can change the 'Edit Interactions' between the table and map, but then it won't change the autozoom. Does that make any sense?

@Anonymous No, this is a 'feature' 🙂
If you click on the map, it doesn't autozoom, just shows you the selection relative to the entire map. I believe their are some settings you can change about manual zoom functionality, but clicking the country won't change the zoom.
If you added another map, clicking the country in that map could change the zoom in the second map... but generally I find silcers are the easiest way to get the desired autozoom.
