Auto color for Clustered column chart

Hi All,

I have some data and what to show as a column chart.

Lets say I have a table like this:

Name        Value

Name1 90
Name2 22
Name3 78
Name4 65
Name5 28
Name6 45
Name7 50
Name8 64
Name9 46
Name10 50
Name11 20
Name12 79
Name13 46
Name14 0
Name15 68
Name16 69
Name17 17
Name18 41
Name19 29

If I set as following, the chart will use one default color (blue)

When I put name in Legned, auto color will be applied but the chart area seems small:

When I put Name in both Axis and Legend, auto color applied but the columns seems very slim:

My question is: is there a way that the chart looks like the first one but different color can be applied automatically?

Hi @kongyuancn

There's no automatic way to use the in-built colors as you want to do.

You either manually assign colors or use a conditional formatting rule to assign colors.

Phil

I'm late to this thread, but you could possibly change your visualization from a clustered column chart to a stacked column chart. You can do this in the visualizations pane.

You should get the colors you're lookin for without changing the shape of thr graph.

Hope this helps!

Hi @kongyuancn

In the Format area under Data Colors click on the fx button to open the default color settings.

Set the format by to Color Scale and use these settings

Make sure the Diverging box is checked so you can select a middle color.  Choose whatever colors you want.

Thank you @PhilipTreacy  for your answer. I want to use the default colors in this visual (it contains much more colors and they seems more beautiful). Colors in color scale cannot provide red/green/blue/purple/orange at same time and it's heavy work if I set those colors manually.
