Appending Multiple Sheets of an Excel File

Good Afternoon,

For a dashboard I'm building there is a report I run that is imported into PowerBI from excel, the issue is that this particular report is a year to date report meaning that the further I get into the year, the more information is included, toward the year end the file is so big that it has to go onto multiple excel sheets.

I am trying to future proof this report as I make it, so my current issue is, how can I set this particular query up in such a way that no matter how many sheets, they are always appended before all of the steps are applied to the data?

Hi @Anonymous,

Or you can split the sheets to work around. And get the files from a folder in power BI desktop. For more details, please check the case.

Thanks @v-frfei-msft,

Someone else had already requested this feature so I have voted for it here - https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19629901-add-combine-option-when-...

In the mean time, my line manager came up with a solution of using a macro which automatically splits out the single workbook with 3 sheets in it to 3 seperate workbooks, this means I am now able to get to a point where I will always be able to use a query to filter out the seperate workbooks I require. However when I now try and use the combine files feature, it doesn't combine them, it always only comes out with the data from the first sheet, do you know why this may be?

When I tried to load more information, I got this Error: [Expression.Error] The key didn't match any rows in the table.

Many thanks,

Conor

Hi @Anonymous,

Based on my test, it is not possible to meet your requirement currently. You can come up a new idea about that and add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.
