Aply roles by user

Hello everyone, i'm trying to make a report to share with diferent cooworkers but due to company policies each user should only be able to access his own data, is there any way to do that?

Hi @pestebansiam,

>>Thaks for the answer, but this does will not be adecuated because the user can change his own role in Power Bi

Nope, current only dataset owner can setting available roles.

Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI

Manage security on your model

To manage security on your data model, you will want to do the following.

  1. Select the ellipse (…) for a dataset.

  2. Select Security.

This will take you to the RLS page for you to add members to a role you created in Power BI Desktop. Only the owners of the dataset will see Security available. If the dataset is in a Group, only Administrators of the group will see the security option.

You can only create or modify roles within Power BI Desktop.

HI @pestebansiam,

I'd like to suggest you create dynamic RLS based username, then assign this role to users to achieve dynamic filter based on user.

RLS with UserName()

Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI

Notice: current RLS only works on read permission users, it not works on edit permission users.(dataset owner, admin)
