Aplhabet and number togetjer - data error

My column contains data in the form of pure numbers - 2658270185 and in the form of alphabet, numeric form - CR35309277

The type of the column is changed to text still it would give me below error:

DataFormatError: We couldnt convert to Number

Details:

   CR35309277

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

I found the solution. While loading the data, query loads it as an integer , so even if you later convert the type to "text" it still throws the error.

I went in advacned query editor for the first step and changed the type for"integer.64" to "text" by typing it manually.

and then it worked!

Hi @Krushal ,

Did you change it to TEXT thru Desktop  or thru Power query editor?

Try changing it thru Query editor. Sometimes it gives an error if we do from Desktop.

You can give a try in your case.

Thanks,

Tejaswi

Hi @Krushal ,

I am unable to recreate your issue.

Is your data source an excel spreadsheet? or it is coming live from any DB?

if Excel, then may be this post helps you.
