Hello,
My company requires a description for any field displayed on the field plane.
From my research, the only way to add description is to click to the model plane and add the description under properties.
Ok, it works.....
but the issue is I had like 300 fileds awaiting someone to add description.
Is there a smarter way to import those description to the field?
Otherwise, I would have to waste a day to manually copy and paste the description.........
This is so horrible and stupid.......
Hi, @wchiu
As far as I’m concerned, the only way to add descriptions for fields under the model is to go to the model page and add them.
But after testing, I found that if you press on “Ctrl” to select some fields and add the description for them, you can achieve the batch add description operation, like this:
And you can achieve what you want.
One blog about adding description for fields
Thank you very much!

Hi Robertq,
It is cool to know you can press Ctrl to fill multiple fields at once. However, my real issue is I have 200 different fields that have 200 different description. Is fill in one by one the only solution?
Is there a way to import those description from an Excel?
Manually fill in is time consuming and would easily have errors.
Thanks!
Hi, @wchiu
As far as I’m concerned, it is impossible to be achieved in Power BI at the current. But I think it’s a good idea. You can go to the Power BI Idea to submit a new idea so that people with the same idea can vote for you. I will also vote for you.
Thank you very much!
