Hello @Anonymous ,

on Power BI Desktop your laptop is the limit. So you could also import a terabyte if your notebook would have enough resources.

In Power BI Service the file size limit is 1GB, but in compressed status. So when you save the file as PBIX it is compressed and this size cannot exeed 1GB with a free or pro account. If you have Power BI Premium or Premium per User there are higher limits.

Be aware that your data source can also have limits, like a timeout after a specific duration.

If you need any help please let me know.

@Anonymous Hey,

There are many limitation in the dataset size of PowerBI, there is a 1 GB limit, per dataset, that is imported into Power BI. For PowerBI Service, users with a Power BI Pro license can create app workspaces, with a maximum 10 GB of data storage each. Other user will have a maximum 10 GB of data storage.

Here is a document related to this, I would suggest you referring to it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-manage-your-data-storage-in-power-bi

It depends on your RAM. power bi capacity. But 500 MB should be fine
