Analysis Services Changing Data Type

Hello all,

I have a report that connects via Analysis Services tabular model, and I have published into Service.

I want to change one column's data type as "Barcode", but I can not do it. I want to use Scanner property of Service.

How can I handle it? Any ideas?

Best regards.

If you are connecting Live, I do not believe you can change that.

Hello, I understood that I cannot do that, and converted my model to Direct Query mode, which allows me to do.

@Anonymous,

In Power BI Desktop, it is not possible to change data type for columns when you connect to SSAS using "Connect live" mode. You can change data type in SSAS database instead.

Also please note that there is no DirectQuery mode for SSAS database. You can connect to SQL Server database in Power BI Desktop using DirectQuery mode.

Regards,
Lydia
