You may add a calculated table.

Table =
GENERATE (
    Table1,
    SELECTCOLUMNS (
        TOPN (
            1,
            FILTER ( Table1, Table1[customer] = EARLIER ( Table1[customer] ) ),
            Table1[gift_date], DESC
        ),
        "gift_date_last", Table1[gift_date],
        "gift_amount_last", Table1[gift_amount]
    )
)

Sorry but this ran me out of memory.  It is a good solution for smaller data sets.
