Add extra fields to data export

Hi,

 

how can i create a data export report which include more fields than used on a dashboard?

This report is needed for the analyst to do some further analysis within Excel. Don't want to show all fields in PowerBI.

If you want to export all fields of a table and don't want to create a visual using all fields of the table in Power BI Desktop. You can use "Copy Table" feature. In Data view of Power BI Desktop, right click your table and select "Copy Table", then paste all the data to Excel file.

Another option is to export data using the “underlying data” option in Power BI Service, the exported file will contains columns which are used to create the report together with all “Text” type columns. So, if you want to export all columns, you have to either have the rest column set to be “Text” type or include these fields in the report.

In Lydia's solution response (@v-yuezhe-msft), "...contains columns which are used to create the report together with all “Text” type columns. So, if you want to export all columns, you have to either have the rest column set to be “Text” type or include these fields in the report" the key here is to make sure that for any columns you want exported that are NOT part of the actual visual itself, these columns must be formatted as Text.  If the columns you want to export are used in other visuals and need to be numeric for other calculations, simply create a copy of such column and format that copy as text so that the column gets exported and the original column may still be used as numeric in the other visual.  Unfortunately, making such copies requires increasing the dataset so a suggestion would be to instead allow making a reference to a numeric field and allow such reference to be set to text datatype.  In any case, thanks Lydia for this understanding.
