Add a filter in a filter

Hi, lets say in my data table I have only 3 column, 1 for Years, 1 for Period, 1 for Sales

I can easily create two separate filters on Years and Period, that is ok

But what if I want to put the filter Period inside the filter Years ?

I'm asking that because with separate filters, I can choose the years 2016/2017/2018 in the filter Period, and I can choose the Period 6 and 12 in the filter Period. But it will gave me the results Sales for 2016 Period 6 / 2016 Period 12 / 2017 Period 6 / 2017 Period 12, on and on

But how can I have results Sales, in the same output, for different Period in different Years ?

By example, I want 2016 Period 12, 2017 Period 6, 2018 Period 3, only that and all in just one output graphic or table or whatever

Thank you, I'm new to PowerBI so please be specific 🙂

Multiple Options:

Option 1: Create a calculated column which Concatnates Year and Period. Then you can have a single filter and select whatever Year/Period combinations you want.

Option 2: Go for the HierarchySlicer custom visual from Marketplace which allows you to select any combination using the 2 columns.

Hi @Johny_77,

It seems that you want to get the output below.

If it is, you could import the custom visual Hierarchy slicer in market place.

@Johny_77 As you mentioned, if all three fields are in same table. Then, the two filters Year and Period will filter in cascading mode. Please provide sample data and expected output if you need in detail explanation.
