Add a day name to date on x-axis?

I have a chart that I have added a date as x-axis. I wanted to add a secondary axis label that is day of week. I thought I could use 

Day of Week = FORMAT('Attendance Review'[AttendanceDate],"dddd") to get that but it doesn't like that it is a column rather than value. Is there some way to accomplish this?

I create a demo according to your description and a calculated columns “day of week” by your code:

Day of Week = FORMAT('Attendance Review'[AttendanceDate],"yyyy-mm-dd-dddd")

If this demo doesn’t meet your expectations, any test data would be helpful if you can provide.

Hopefully works for you, BTW, PBIX as attached.
