ABS

I am trying to create a new column where I convert all negative amounts from column [Amount] to positive amounts by row as follows:

Expenses = ABS(bank[Amount])
but I keep getting the following message:

''A single value for column 'Amount' in table 'Rabobank' cannot be determined. This can happen when a measure formula refers to a column that contains many values without specifying an aggregation such as min, max, count, or sum to get a single result.''

If I use the RELATED formula:

Expenses = RELATED(ABS(bank[Amount]))
I get the following message: ''Function RELATED expects a fully qualified column reference as its argument.''

What can I use to solve this probem?

Many thanks!

Imy

Re: ABS

Hi @imy ,

Could you please offer a simple sample data to have a test if possible?

Re: ABS

If you are trying to calculate this column in a table that is related to the 'bank' table you should be able to do this by reversing the order of the 2 functions

eg.

=ABS( RELATED( bank[Amount] ) )

Related will pull a single value from a related table (which is on the "1" side of a 1 to many relationship) and then once you have that value you can use ABS to convert everything to a positive value.
