A measure is causing the table to show all the rows

I have a table and filtered by date.  Then there is this status measure that returns "Open" or "close" depending if one of the column is blank or not.

Status =

Var mediaDistributeDate =   MINX(TableA, TableA[completedbydate])
return if(ISBLANK(mediaDistributeDate), "Open", "Close")

When i put this measure in, it shows all rows even if the date is filtered.  When I take it out, the date filter works.  Why is this, and how can i fix this?

Hi @wpf_

If you create the measure as a calculated column, you should be able to use it as a filter without the issues you're experiencing (if my understanding is correct).

Otherwise, it may have something to do with the way the Date fields (i.e. Date in fact table versus Date in Date tables, etc) have been structured.

Let me know either way! 🙂

yes the calc column works but im trying to figure why the measure would not work.  I'll mark as resoloved but if you have any other ideas why please let me know. Thanks.

@wpf_ hopefully thus link explains it a little more: https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/applying-a-measure-filter-in-power-bi/
