This report presents the usual insights most COVID19 reports have done, but there is an added perspective that highlights the African Continent, scaled down to my country, Nigeria.
The African continent accounts for 35% of global population, but only 2% of the COVID cases in contrast with, say, Italy of 3 million (0.2% on global) but accounts for 3% on the COVID pandemic scale. Nigeria, a country of 200 million is the 7th most populous nation and the #1 for black population. The recorded number of cases on 28th April 2020 was 1,532 cases (0.05%) when the aggregate global number was 3,097,229. These insights should excite both the most hit nations and the people of Africa.
Despite the initial report of resilience of the black community in the US at the onset of the pandemic, the situation had since turned out to be different.
The black community in the US, as reported data has shown, were the worst hit of any ethnic group. However, over here in Africa, the hypothesis posed by the US Black Community, would seem to be holding true. That, the biological constitution of the Black African contributes to their protection from the novel corona virus. This has not been tested and proven, but it is area worth researching into. The infection and fatality rates in North Africa differ very significantly with those in the Sub-Saharan regions.
There are reports of very admirable success stories coming from Senegal and Madagascar. Senegal created an administrative system on COVID-19 that brought down the cost of test kit from $61 to just $1, planning to test every one of its 60 million citizens, and had 3-D produced all the ventilators it required at just $60/unit as against market price of $16,000. Madagascar, on the other hand, had manufactured a medication that every African is comfortable, using known herbs, fruits, and shrubs. Though not scientifically perfected, it certainly is an entry point to creating remedies with the right support and research.
It is the hope of this report to kindle interest in supporting Africa into undertaking research. The AI and health grant supporting research would be a welcome intervention to these innovative endeavours.

This has not been scientifically proven, but it is an area worth researching into, considering also that, higher rates of infection and fatality have been recorded in the North African region, where the skin colour is significantly lighter than what obtains in the Sub-Saharan regions.
