The Consult Blue– Gender Equality Dashboard has been developed as a country based benchmark for assessing gender equality in the European Union. The Dashboard compares gender equality data on six main dimensions:
- Work
- Money
- Knowledge
- Time
- Power
- Health
Gender equality at work is related to the position of women in society, to the relationship in the family, to opportunities so we focused mainly on this indicator.
The Dashboard compares one particular country with the EU average providing an understanding of one’s country position within the EU on gender equality. The Dashboard has been created at the request of a Romanian NGO, but one could select and analyze any EU member country.
The evolution and trends provided allows an understanding of the direction of change. Thus, it can be used as the starting point of an in-depth causal analysis, becoming a very useful tool.
It is a useful instrument for Government and civil activists to analyze the gender equality standing of a country within the EU, the evolution, the weak and strong areas in order to improve policy making or advocacy.
Once published, the results help to create a deeper public understanding of one’s country standing as compared to the EU average.
