Our #1 objective at Henry’s Uncle is to save lives. Period. And we can’t save lives without quick and accessible data so we developed this Power BI report.
Currently, there are many disparate data sources that attempt to communicate the drug epidemic but are all academic in nature. This report breaks down overdose deaths due to drugs by gender, age, and race to show the deadly impact of synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl. We pulled data extracts from CDC Wonder (which was extremely difficult) and CDC PDMP.
Henry's Uncle is a nonprofit dedicated to help end the stigma and shame around drug addiction. Established in early 2019, Henry's Uncle's vision is a world where people with a substance use disorder are given proper, evidence-based treatment to let them live productive and full lives. With over 70,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States in 2017, where opioids accounted for 2/3 of the deaths, the stigma associated with drug addiction needs to end so people can find proper treatment to cure their disease. Over 22 million Americans suffer from a substance use disorder and less than 10 percent of people suffering from a substance use disorder will seek treatment.
Join us in ending the stigma around addiction and giving a voice to people who are suffering with a substance use disorder.
