power bi - ranking date

hello 🙂

I tried to make a ranking on a date so that every beginning of a month it resets but I can't get it. the furthest I got is that every month simply gets an cumulative ranking based on RANKX on power bi which includes a month and a year. Has anyone needed such a ranking and succeeded?

Hi @talan12 ,

Does this one help you fixing your issue?

Otherwise, could you provide some sample on how you exactly would like to rank the data. Also, do you want to do this in DAX as a measure or a calculated column or rather a new column in Power Query?

Let me know 🙂

Hi @talan12

for measure please try

=
COUNTROWS (
    FILTER (
        CALCULATETABLE ( 'Table', ALLEXCEPT ( 'Table', 'Table'[Month], 'Table'[Year] ) ),
        'Table'[Date] <= MAX ( 'Table'[Month] )
    )
)

for calculated column please try

=
COUNTROWS (
    FILTER (
        CALCULATETABLE ( 'Table', ALLEXCEPT ( 'Table', 'Table'[Month], 'Table'[Year] ) ),
        'Table'[Date] <= EARLIER ( 'Table'[Month] )
    )
)
