Isolate a single field in a column

Hello, Looking for a calc / technique to expose data within a Table BUT only when a user has isolated a selection to 1 item.

Example

Column A =

Dog

Cat

Mouse

User clicks on Dog and Cat, Column B = ""  Blank

User clicks on Dog, Column B = "Dog"

I have tried the calc below

Column_B = If ( DISTINCTCOUNT ( Column_A ) = 1 , Column_A , "" )

But I cant seem to return a text string back to a table chart.

Any suggestions ????

Hello @svella

The result of a column change only when you actualize your dataset. So you can't change a column value depending a slicer or anything.

Otherwise, you can detect the number of selected items :

NB Selected = COUNTROWS ( FILTERS ( [ColumnA] ) )

Then if you want to display the selection, for a dynamic title for example :

Title = IF ( [NB Selected] = 1 , "Informations for " & CONCATENATEX ( FILTERS ( [ColumnA] ) ) ; "Informations for several animals" )

Use the filters function if you want more options.
