I have a model with Revenue data (connected to Date, and a few other dimensions).
I have a DimCategory where each Client had only one Category, but now there are 2 Clients that have multiple categories…
Client | Category |
1 | LMT |
2 | PQL |
3 | AMC |
3 | IEM |
3 | LMT |
4 | PQL |
5 | PQL |
6 | PQL |
7 | LMT |
7 | PPP |
(DimCategory connects to the Fact through Key_Category, which is present in both the fact and DimCategory😊)
A client can only have one category associated, therefore the DimCategory table also has ValidFrom and ValidTo columns. I know the model is not ideal!!
This breaks my .pbix!! 😞 99.9% of my data is fine, but when I put DimCategory in my pbix; for clients 3 and 7 I get the split between categories and I intend to display only one Category per client!
Can I solve this in DAX? The revenue shall never be splited by category (not even when using time intelligence with LY data for example); if year 2019 is selected on the filter, all revenue for a given client should have the category that was valid at the end of 2019…. if year 2020 is selected, all revenue should have the category that was valid at the end of 2020…. And so on.
