enhanced scatter plot

Hi All,

The brief tutorial with the enhanced scatter plot visual indicates that it is possible to configure it with dynamically changing backdrop images. Unfortunately, the tutorial does not include detail on how to do that. Can anyone help?

It would be helpful to see the DAX expression for the ImageMeasure that is mentioned in the tutorial, along with a snapshot of the data structure it applies to.  Additional details on the relationship between the PageName used in the slicer and the ImageMeasure would also be helpful

Thank you,

Ann

@AnnL,

Could you please share a link to the guide that you read?
I just want to understand the requirement better.

Hi Ignat Vilesov,

The enhanced scatter plot tutorial video is here:

https://store.office.com/en-us/app.aspx?assetid=WA104380762&sourcecorrid=8f6a9339-72eb-4870-aa34-620...

The feature that I am asking about is discussed starting at around 5 min 57 sec. The background image behind the scatter plot is changed for different subsets of the data - using an image measure.

The same tutorial is provided in text and images on this page:

https://pbiwebprod-docs.azurewebsites.net/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-tutorial-enhancedscatt...

Scroll down to the "Add shapes, images, rotation, and background" section of the tutorial and then look at step 4 and following that, also the related section of "Add a slicer" which is part of getting the backdrop image to swap.

Thank you for your assistance,

Ann

Hello @AnnL,

You should follow these steps to change background dynamically:

  1. Data-set should contain a backround image URL for each data-row
  2. Column with background URL should be applied to Backdrop field
  3. Select any category on another visual or apply a filter. After that, Enahnced Scatter will appy a background that is related to the selected category

Please let us know if you have any questions or you want to use DAX.

A great visual. However, I really need a few more enhancements. Being able to set the x and y data bars to show only at 0 and 0 and being able to name the quadrants would greatly help. These features are possible in the Quadrants Chart custom visual but this lacks a number of other things that are able to be done with this visual.
