Well, after about two weeks, we have reached 91% coverage of Excel functions translated to DAX. The original goal I had in mine was 80% coverage so we've exceeded my original goal and since progress has definitely slowed and become increasingly difficult to move the needle I figured this would be a good time to pause and reflect upon what we’ve learned thus far.

I was recently working on some strategic analysis for a meeting. The executive assistant working on the presentation reached out to me because she wanted to ensure that the visuals were well aligned with everything else in the presentation. Instead of going back and forth getting things just right, I showed her how to edit the report in the service and use the formatting pane to adjust font, sizing, etc. We’ve been planning to get together to do the same thing in Power BI Desktop-- so the modern ribbon comes just in time for us. She is an expert in PowerPoint, and this improvement enables her to leverage her existing expertise to format data visualizations. Although I got a sneak peek at the modern ribbon, it will soon be released to everyone in the November update.

As per the April 2019 update, Microsoft has introduced a data profiling capability in Power BI desktop.
Data profiling helps us easily find the issues with our imported data from data sources in to Power BI.

For many of us who work in data analytics for long time, you may notice that producing great data reports and dashboards alone doesn’t always generate desired outcomes. Why? Because data reports and dashboards are usually exploratory by nature and self-service oriented. In addition, they usually don’t have rich text to explain why certain charts and data points are meaningful in what context, not mentioning the usual lack of graphical elements that make data fun and interesting to read.
