Audit log search (Abstract)

Audit log search

Audit log gives you information about who did what on which item, and you can extract this information by user, groups, reports, dashboards, datasets, documents and so on

To access and leverage Power BI Audit log search functionality, it is not available except on Microsft365 admin center, and you must:

  • Be Global Admin or Power BI service admin
  • Turn on the auditing, because, if it is not turned on, there will not be log records

You can

  • Export the log data to CSV files, or to (for example) Azure SQL Database using REST APIs
  • Design your own report from the data to your requirements
  • Filter log data by date range, user etc …

Take into your consideration that there maybe a delay between the functionality enable time and the time you can view the log data
