Pbi Report server Version Upgrade

- we are upgrading the report server version from May 21 to Sep 23 in company on-prem. Need clarification on code backup during version upgrade, any possibility to rollback if there is an error occurs.

- Also is there an option to copy the reports from one remote server to another at a time instead of avoiding downloading and updating

Hi @Roky ,

To copy reports from one server to another, consider the following methods:

  • SSRS Migration Script: You can use the script to migrate report objects (including folders) from one server to another.
rs.exe -i ssrs_migration.rss -e Mgmt2010 -s http://SourceServer/ReportServer -u Domain\User -p password -v ts="http://TargetServer/reportserver" -v tu="Domain\User" -v tp="password"
  • Backup and Restore: Another approach is to back up the source ReportServer database (including the ReportServer Tempdb) and restore it on the target server. This method preserves permissions and configuration settings.
  • Reporting Configuration Manager: Use this tool to configure the report server database connection after migration.
  • Restart Services: Restart the SQL Server and Report Server services after migration.
