Desktop running painfully slow!

I have just downloaded Power BI desktop and am just finding it painfully slow to use.  Even before I connected data it was slow.  There is just a very long response time as I hover my cursor around for it to activate the element that I am hovering over.

Any ideas why this is the case?

Hi, @amcmorron

Here are some of the minimum computer configuration requirements for Power BI:

You have 8GB of RAM if you have other programs running on your computer. Then Power BI Desktop may experience lagging problems. Use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to monitor CPU, memory, and disk usage while Power BI Desktop is running. This can help identify any bottlenecks.

Here are some possible optimization suggestions:

If possible, consider upgrading your RAM. More memory can significantly improve the performance of memory-intensive applications like Power BI Desktop. Make sure your hard drive is healthy and performing well. A slow or failing hard drive can cause performance issues.

Close any unnecessary background applications or processes that might be competing for system. resources.Perform a virus scan to ensure that your system is not infected with malware that could be affecting performance.

Hi @Alex87 ,

Thanks for your quick response.

Hi  @amcmorron ,

First of all, please upgrade to the latest version, uncheck some of the preloaded content in the data source setting, then restart powerbi destkop and observe if there is a significant speed improvement.
