Usage of enterprise gateway

Dear,

I read that it is recommended to install enterprise gateway in the server whre the data source is located.

However I forsee below risks for that.

• Moslty server will not have internet access, but enterprise gateway need internet
• Data sources can be froom diff servers

Can you help me to understand what is the best way to implement this?

@shamsuddeenvp there is no restriction on installing gateway on different server. You just have to consider potential network latency. Also you can find list of network ports that gateway requires to make outbound connection to azure data centres. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-enterprise/#ports

I would suggest you try by installing gateway on different server than data source and work out if network connectivity is going to be an issue or not.

I have installed in my machine/desktop now, it works fine though there is some performance issue since I am using direct connection.
