Sharing dataset to users

Hello..

I have a question regarding how to share a dataset to users in my company.

Right now we build a POC with some groups on my company, where we created workspaces and allow users in these workspaces to use the dataset. All this worked perfectly, and now we want to deploy this in a global manner.

For this , what we try to do, is to share the dataset accross all users that needs to use it, so they can created reports/dashboards in their personal workspace. We don't want to create dedicated workspaces for all those users.

So we want to find a way for users to use the dataset and create reports.

Also this dataset, is using gateway, so users doesn;t have direct access the DB, and they need to use the powerbi gateway. So the reports needs to be build using the powerbi services, and not direct connetions to the DB.

Hi there

If the users would need access to the dataset to build their own reports, then as it stands they would have to have access to the App Workspace where the dataset is currently.

I do know that there are plans to try and replicate what you can do currently with content packs with Apps, but it is not there yet.

Also I think that if the dataset is using DirectQuery to the DB, then those users would need to be added under the Users in the Data Source in the Power BI Service "Manage Gateways"
