Power BI service credentials

Here's my setup: I have a Azure SQL database that I connect using azure domain credentials, that is a specific data-reader account, not my account.

From Power BI desktop, I enter the account and password on the Microsoft Account tab and it works. I then publish the report into the Power BI service. In the service, there is no Microsoft Account section for credentials. I tried both Basic and OAuth2 but it did not work.

On another database, where I use my account to read data (my account has Power BI Pro license) it works just fine. Do I need Power BI Pro license on the account I would use to access the data from the Power BI Service?

Hi Ardian

According to your setup: I have a Azure SQL database that I connect using azure domain credentials, that is a specific data-reader account, not my account.

Does this account only have permission to read data?

How about setting more permission to this account, like editing permission?

Regards

Maggie
