Power BI Reports source connection change

Hello,

 

I am trying to chnage the data source(sql connection) for my power BI reports which are published and in live with a different data source.Please let me know the steps. i am using gateways also.

Hi @ramesh_bethini

 

You also could create a parameter which would be your Server Name.


You can add this parameter to your SQL Server Source, so that all that you would need to do is to change the Parameter and refresh your data.

 

NOTE: If you are using an On-Premise Gateway your Data Source Name in your On-Premise Gateway in the Power BI Service MUST match your Server Name in your Data Source Connection in Power BI Desktop.

@ramesh_bethini You won't be able to do that in the Service. You need to change the connection in the Desktop (hopefully you started there)

Click on "Edit Queries" > Data Source Settings and you can modify the connection there.
