On Premises Data Gateway

Hi guys,

I have an issue that I do not understand how it should work.

I created a new project in the Power bi desktop, the project contains two data sources
The first is database from sql server and the second is Excel file that is saved on the server.

Up to here everything is good..

The problem starts when I want to set up the On Premises Data Gateway.

The first connection with the data source of the sql server is work properly but when I try to set up the connection with the file it does not work.

Is it possible to define OPremises Data Gateway. with Excel source and DB (sql server) in the same project ?

If so, do you have a setup guide for the Excel file ??

Best Regards,

Alon

@alonb Where did you set up the On Premises Data gateway? Your machine? The server needs to have access to the Excel file.

Alternatively, if you Excel file is in a Cloud location like SharePoint online or OneDrive, then you are trying to mix a cloud source with an on premises data source and this cannot be done with the the Enterprise Gateway yet.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the help, Finally I decided to manage the data from the power bi in "Enter Data" option and I removed the excel files.

Then I set up the On Premises Data Gateway from a single data source (sql server) It seems to work fine.

Best Regards

Alon
