Hello,
I'm having issue with replacing .pbix file on web. I'm not able to replace file from desktop. When I tried to replace .pbix from web, it shows message box about file replacement with new file after clicking on YES, it process on it but it doesn't replace file, it create new file with same name. Only difference between old version of this file and new version is that I have added new table using DAX formula. I don't want to publish new version as I have already generated "publish to web" link for embedding.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Rahul
Solved! Go to Solution.
I cannot repro the same issue as you. Before replacing, please check the dataset and report name in Service is same as the PBIX file name in Desktop, there is no extra space in them. And then select the same group space or My Workspace which original dataset located to publish. In this way, we will be able to replace the old dataset and report, the “publish to web” link will not be changed.
Best Regards,
Herbert

Thanks for your advice. It was indeed dataset issue as name of old dataset and new dataset was different. After replacing dataset with new name, issue was resolved. I thought changing report name will automatically update dataset name in Power BI Web.
If u want to send pbix using REST, use the parameter "ImportConflictHandlerMode"
